Sure, a DB9 connector has ground on pin 5, Xmit on pin 3, and Recv
on pin 2. Note that if you have a DB25, ground is pin 7, Xmit on pin 2, and
Recv on pin 3. (These are the PC conventions, others may vary). Aren't
standards wonderful?

For those of you wanting to connect the GPS-45 to a PC for use with
the GARDOWN program-

Here's my cable:

Garmin GPS-45 PC (9 pin)
(their cable)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

 Brown (Data Out) 2

 White (Data In) 3

 Black (Ground) 5

And if you want to power the GPS externally (5-40 VDC)
(assuming yiu have the power/data cable)

Black connect to neg terminal of power

Red connect to pos terminal of power

I used an empty 35mm film container as a junction box

Remember to set GPS for the Garmin/Garmin protocol!

Thank you to Mike Montgomery, the author of GARDOWN for creating this
program!!
